Joshua P. Geist of Goodrich & Geist, P.C. has been elected president of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice as the organization celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2018.
Goodrich & Geist, P.C. is proud to announce that partner Joshua P. Geist has been elected president of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice (formerly the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association). The mission of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice (PAJ) is to promote a fair and effective justice system – and to support attorneys as they work to ensure that any person who is injured by the misconduct or negligence of others can obtain justice in Pennsylvania’s courtrooms, even when taking on the most powerful interests. In 2018, PAJ celebrated its 50th anniversary, and Mr. Geist is the 51st president of the organization.
Joshua Geist is a trial attorney with Goodrich & Geist and represents individuals and families who have suffered catastrophic injuries or death caused by careless and negligent corporations and individuals. He knows firsthand the challenges of the civil justice system and the already-high bar that plaintiffs must overcome.
PAJ is a bipartisan organization opposed to limiting the rights of injured Pennsylvanians by essentially making wrongdoers such as employers, medical professionals, or corporations immune from accountability for the harm they have caused to innocent persons. PAJ strives to support legislators who are pro-civil justice and to preserve rights within the state of Pennsylvania. It also continues to support its sister organization, the American Association for Justice (AAJ), in the same fight at the federal level, where the right to trial, attorney fees, and the ability to file a lawsuit are under scrutiny and attack.
Pennsylvania lawyers are encouraged to remember that membership in PAJ is the most effective way to protect your ability to practice law and earn a paycheck. PAJ membership also presents a good opportunity to help your profession and your clients.
Joshua Geist is an invited member of the prestigious Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County, an invitation-only group made up of the top trial lawyers in Pittsburgh. Mr. Geist has served as co-chair of the Automobile Litigation Section of PAJ. He has been named a Pennsylvania “Super Lawyer” Rising Star, which is limited to 2.5% of practicing attorneys in Pennsylvania under the age of 40 or in practice less than 10 years. Mr. Geist is a frequent writer and speaker on personal injury topics and has taught trial techniques and tactics to law students at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
